FIRST COMMUNION PACKET (CLICK HERE)
Dear Parents/Guardians,
As First Communion is quickly approaching (TBD @ 11AM), I have compiled this four page packet to help the students review and learn the most important concepts from class. This will be very helpful if you have fallen behind on the material, since you can use the book and look up the answers. Please try to have the students answer to the best of their ability.
In-Person First Communion Practices will be held in April (See dates above) and there will be a review of the material at the First Communion Practices. The practices will take place in church on the dates listed above. Packets are due by the day of the second practice, April (tbd), 2022.
Health and Safety Regulations will continue to be in effect for these practices and I would ask that a parent be present as well. Both Fr. Green and myself will be fully vaccinated which will allow us to hold these practices with less anxiety/concern. Instructions for First Communion attire & protocol will be forthcoming. Please continue to watch this webpage and review the Parish Bulletin for upcoming announcements.
Stay Safe & God Bless You!
Mary-Beth Hoxie, Director of Rel. Ed.
DEAR GRADE THREE PARENTS/GUARDIANS,
Third Grade will be operating as an In-Person class with health and safety precautions in place, unless otherwise permitted or circumstances change. Once Registered (click here for registration form), students in Grade 3 will attend class each week (see master calendar below) from 9:45-10:45AM in the Church Hall. It is crucial that we have the cooperation of everyone involved, so that these students are not delayed in receiving their Sacraments. We hope that the textbook, activities, and curriculum provided are useful.
It is ESSENTIAL that the 3rd Grade Students have knowledge of all their Basic Prayers, understand God’s Law (particularly the Ten Commandments), and understand the Concepts of Sin, Forgiveness, Sorrow for Sin, and the Sacrament of Penance. They should also know that the Eucharist is the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Christ and see the Mass as both a Sacrifice and Sacrament where Christ is offered (as on the Cross) and given to us in the Blessed Sacrament.
Repetition of prayer (especially before bed each night) is the best way for students to learn. Crucifixes, Images of the Sacred Heart, Our Lady, & the Saints are also recommended visual aids for their prayer/learning development. The Staff and Teachers here at St. Martha's look forward to working with you closely so that this can be a fruitful academic year despite the many difficulties.
